Purpose:

Content: The current Economic Development is due to expire in 2025. It was agreed at the 24 July 2024 Finance and Resources committee meeting to bring forward an evidence base and framework for refreshing the strategy for 2025-2028 in line with the priorities established in the newly adopted Corporate Plan 2024-2028.   The Chair thanked the officers in the Economic Development Team for the work undertaken.    Cllr Rigby requested that Appendix B of the report be sent to the Chamber of Commerce for their information.    The recommendation was MOVED by Cllr Kendall and SECONDED by Cllr Mayo. A vote was taken by a show of hands and was RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY:   RECOMMENDATIONS R1. To note the evidence base that has been collected on the economic position of the Borough   R2. To agree the framework to refresh and rename the Economic Growth Strategy 2025-2028   REASON FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The council’s current Economic Development Strategy runs until 2025 (see Appendix A). A refreshed strategy is required to deliver on the council’s ambitions for growth from 2025-2028.
