Purpose: NCC have a statutory responsibility to provide Oral Health Promotion services as appropriate to their population. We are seeking approval to negotiate directly with the Newcastle Hospitals Community Dental Service to continue to deliver Oral Health Promotion services for key vulnerable groups. This included children living in the most deprived areas of Newcastle, adults who are classed as ‘vulnerable’, and children and families who are refugees or asylum seekers. The Community Dental Service is the service commissioned in Newcastle to provide dental care for eligible, vulnerable groups and has the specialist expertise to provide the Oral Health Promotion. No similar organisations with the required skills and expertise exists in Newcastle.
