Purpose:
Content: Cabinet approved the “Your Care and Support”, Doncaster’s 2025 Local Account for Adult Social Care. Councillor Sarah Smith, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care introduced this report which sought Cabinet’s approval of the “Your Care and Support” Doncaster’s 2025 Local Account for Adult Social Care. Whilst this was not a mandatory report, there was a national expectation that all Councils with Adult Social Services responsibilities publish an annual local account which reviews the previous year’s performance and outlined priorities for the coming year. “Your Care and Support” has been put together alongside people with lived experience of care and support in Doncaster under the auspices of the Making it Real Board. The Board has an equal mix of adults with experience of seeking or drawing on care and support (people with lived experience) and senior leaders from the Adults, Wellbeing and Culture Directorate in the Council. “Your Care and Support” showcases what is good in terms of care and support in Doncaster and also reflects on areas that required development, drawing on both comparative data and first-hand testimony from Doncaster people who have experience of care and support. It includes the priorities that Making it Real Board members have identified for Adult Social Care in 2025 and the key actions that are required to deliver these. “Your Care and Support” is now co-produced on an annual basis with each version improving as we further expand our approach to coproduction and to gathering feedback. The 2025 version further develops the ambition and progress that was set out in the 2023 and the 2024 documents. Following the presentation of the report, Councillor Sarah Smith invited Helen Stirland and Wendy Sharp, both members of the Making it Real Board, to present their lived experiences as users of Doncaster’s Adult Care Services. Both Helen and Wendy praised the Council’s approach to “co-production” and the value of asking individuals what assistance they need from the Council. Cabinet applauded the service users and thanked them for attending and sharing their lived experiences as they provided valuable feedback and insight into the work carried out. Members paid tribute to the work of Officers undertaken on a daily basis, providing residents with valuable help and support to live their lives independently. Option 1 Not producing a Local Account. Option 2 Council officers compiling a Local Account Option 3 Council officers compiling a Local Account alongside Doncaster people with lived experience of care and support as part of an ongoing programme of improvement. None.
