Purpose:

Content: A report by the Director of Business Services had been circulated providing  the Committee with an update on recent activity in relation to key Aberdeenshire Council led projects in the town of Peterhead.    The Committee agreed:-   (1)      in relation to the Peterhead Community Campus -   (a)      to note that a revised date will be advised for the Special Full Council Meeting scheduled for 12th December 2024, and   (b)      having noted, with concern, that the closing date for public comment is 26th December 2024 (being a public holiday), to request that the Area Manager make a request to the Planning Service to extend this date   (2)      in relation to the Museum and Library -   (a)      given there is a current issue in being able to provide cover for staff leave, to ask the question “is the Council confident that this will not be an issue for the new facility, given the new facilities will cover several floors” and to ask that the Director raise this issue with the relevant people again,   (b)      to ask “when will the public engagement come forward”, and to stress the need for wider general community engagement which is focused and positive in terms of promoting regeneration in the town centre, and to highlight to the general public that this was ring-fenced funding in an attempt to reduce the negative publicity within social media, and   (c)      to note the importance of this facility being available to the rural parts of Buchan also, including those with reduced transportation infrastructure in-place
