Purpose:

Content: Decision   RESOLVED that Cabinet approved the Housing Allocations Policy to go out to public consultation. Following a public consultation, the Policy will be brought back to Cabinet to recommend to Council for adoption as part of the council’s Policy Framework.                                                                             Reasons for decision   The report seeks Cabinet’s approval for the Housing Allocations Policy to go out to public consultation. The main changes listed in Section 5 of the report attached to the agenda were presented to the Policy Review Committee on 6th March 2025 and were well received. Following the public consultation, the revised Policy will be brought to Council to seek approval to add the Policy to the Council’s Policy Framework.   Alternative Options Considered   Cabinet could have decided not to recommend the Policy for Council’s approval which would mean the current Policy remained in place. This was not recommended as the updated Policy addressed updated housing needs and eligibility to allow the council to best manage limited social housing stock in the borough.
