Purpose:

Content: Councillor Juned – Leader of the Council   Consideration was given to the allocation of funds from the Climate Change Reserve to two nature recovery projects, namely the Free Trees for Farmers Scheme for the third round, and the Wilder Communities Project, to plant trees, wildflowers and hedges in community space across Stratford-on-Avon District in partnership with the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.   The options available to The Cabinet were to approve the recommendations, to amend the mechanisms for delivery as outlined and then approve, to approve funds for one but not the other project, or not to approve the recommendations.   In response to a query regarding the 30 percent protection land target proposed by 2030 and whether measurement of this had been undertaken by the Council within the District, the Chair agreed to review and feed back following the meeting. A further clarification was sought regarding consideration of amenity space not specifically listed within the agenda report and the response was that all land put forward would be considered.   Accordingly, it was   RESOLVED:   (1)That the funding for both the Free Trees for Farmers Scheme and the Wilder Communities Project be approved and £55,000 allocated from the Climate Change Fund to deliver the projects, with £35,000 allocated to the Free Trees for Farmers Scheme and £20,000 to the Wilder Communities Project; and   (2)That delegated authority be given to the Deputy Chief Executive to approve the method for distributing any assets funded by both projects.   Note: This item is subject to call-in to the OSC
