Purpose:
Content: *RESOLVED – 1. That the six Housing Service Landlord Safety and Compliance Policies: Gas, electric, fire, lifts, water safety, and damp, mould and condensation, be approved. 2. That authority be delegated to the Service Director – Housing, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Housing, the Cabinet Member for Governance and the Health, Safety and Risk Team, to approve minor amendments to the Policies in between formal review periods. REASONS FOR DECISIONS 1. The Council has a duty to comply with regulations relating to seven areas of landlord health and safety: Asbestos, electrical, fire, gas, lifts and water safety, plus damp, mould and condensation. Asbestos safety is captured in a corporate policy, but separate housing service policies are required for the other areas. 2. Chesterfield Borough Council’s housing service is already delivering the against the commitments set out in the policies and achieves excellent performance in landlord safety and compliance. It is important that we have published policies and therefore this report presents the policies for Cabinet approval, to allow formal adoption and publication. 3. The focus of the policies is ensuring the safety of tenants, household members and visitors to their homes. The policies will be delivered in accordance with corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
