Purpose:
Content: Following the initial approval of a three month contract for the delivery of the A&W Bike share scheme up to 30th June 2025, the Assistant Director for Place and Economy has agreed an extension to the contract with Sussex Outdoor Living to continue as the preferred operator (to include overseeing day to day management, maintenance and redistribution of bikes) from 1st July 2025 to March 31st 2026. Following initial three month approval, additional funding has now been agreed to extend the contract for the remainder of this financial year up to March 31st 2026. Alternative operator considered - not required as A&W continue to be happy with Sussex Outdoors Life in terms of the cost, operational performance and regular tracking / reporting of scheme. Removal of Bike Share scheme in A&W - would result in negative impact on local people in relation to health and wellbeing and access to active travel means. Removal of the scheme may also result in increased CO2 emissions as bike share users are forced back to using cars for short journeys.
