Purpose:
Content: To award the Homefield Park play area refurbishment contract to Eibe Play Ltd, following a procurement exercise, in the sum of £196,279.63 plus VAT. The project will remove the entire play area and relocate the new play area on the higher ground to the east, extending further eastwards as required. All play equipment will be replaced with new, including inclusive play elements and access footpaths. The removed lower section of play area is being considered for a SUDs garden scheme in the near future. Homefield Park play area was identified in the Parks playground assessments as requiring refurbishment due to the age and condition of the existing equipment when compared to other sites. The lower play ground area also floods in extreme conditions requiring the play area to be closed for long periods following the flooding events. The revised location will prevent this from happening. The design and procurement process has involved public consultation to deliver the most economically advantageous tender and publicly accepted design The play equipment is at end of life so required replacement for safety and the lower half of the play area suffered from flooding issues. The only other option would be to close and remove the play area altogether.
