Purpose: 1. To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a proposed ’Prohibition of vehicles (except for access)’, contraflow cycle lane and waiting restrictions on Wine Street, Bradford on Avon and to recommend an appropriate way forward.
Content: 1. To consider the comments received following the formal advertisement of a proposed ’Prohibition of vehicles (except for access)’, contraflow cycle lane and waiting restrictions on Wine Street, Bradford on Avon and to recommend an appropriate way forward. Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to implement the proposals as advertised, and that objector be advised accordingly. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue, please do so by 1 July 2025. 5. The implementation of the ‘Prohibition of vehicles (except for access)’, contraflow and waiting restrictions is proposed in response to concerns raised by the Bradford on Avon LHFIG on behalf of Bradford on Avon Parish Council and the local community. The proposals address these concerns and will improve the pedestrian and cycle facility in this area. 4. To: I. Implement the proposals as advertised. II. To implement amended proposals III. Abandon the proposals. 2. Consultation has been undertaken with: · The elected Wiltshire Council Members through the statutory TRO consultation process. · The elected Bradford on Avon Parish Council Members through the statutory TRO consultation process. · Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process. · Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process. · Bradford on Avon Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group. 3. The proposed changes were subject to formal consultation ending on 28th October 2024. The advertisement plan can be seen in Appendix 1. During the consultation period a total of forty-two items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals. Of the items received, twenty expressed support or partial support for the Council’s proposals, also requesting additional measures and twenty-two expressed objections with some requesting additional or alternative measures be taken. A list of respondents can be found in Appendix 2.
