Purpose: Following initial consideration by Council, Cabinet will approve the Council’s response to the Government’s invitation to Suffolk local authorities to work together to develop a proposal for local government reorganisation. 

Content: Following initial consideration by Council, Cabinet will approve the Council’s response to the Government’s invitation to Suffolk local authorities to work together to develop a proposal for local government reorganisation.  Resolved:   That, having reflected on the advice of Council at its meeting on 18 March 2025, Section 2 and Appendix A to Report number: CAB/WS/25/016, be approved as the basis of the Council’s response to the Government’s invitation to submit interim plans by 21 March 2025 in respect of local government reorganisation in Suffolk.   (Due to ensuring the interim plan is submitted by the required deadline of 21 March 2025, with the agreement of the Chair of the Overview and Scrutiny (O&S) Committee, the call-in procedure for this item has been suspended. The Chair of the O&S Committee is satisfied that the decision proposed was reasonable in all the circumstances and to it being treated as a matter of urgency).
