Content: Recommendations: 1.1             Note that the Council is committed to making best use of its assets and, in the case of the land at Maygood Street that is surplus to requirement for educational use, enabling the delivery of much needed genuinely affordable homes including larger homes for families. 1.2             Note that the Council is taking a case-by-case approach to the future use of any school sites no longer required for educational use, an approach also mandated by the Secretary of State. 1.3             Note that submissions would be required to the Secretary of State for consent in relation to a change of use of the site at Maygood Street from education to residential, including for any appropriations or disposals. 1.4             Approve the carrying out of a local consultation with schools, residents and community stakeholders with respect to this proposed change. 1.5             Delegate authority to the Corporate Director of Community Wealth Building in consultation with the Executive Member for Children, Young People & Families and the Executive Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods to consider the consultation responses and then make a decision as to whether to seek consent from the Secretary of State to a change of use of the site from education to residential. 1.6             Approve the procurement strategy for a developer partner associated with the proposed future use of this site as set out in this paper, noting delivery will be dependent on Secretary of State consent, planning permission and viability. 1.7             Delegate authority to the Corporate Director of Community Wealth Building, in consultation with the Executive Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods, Corporate Director of Homes and Neighbourhoods and the Acting Corporate Director of Resources to award the contract in line with the procurement strategy detailed in this report. 1.8             Note that the Council will also be bringing forward proposals for the use of the Montem School site, and subject to terms and relevant consents, the plan is to use the main building for an affordable workspace for artists and creatives (focusing on local individuals and organisations), some of the outside space as a new community garden for local residents, and converting the caretakers house to accommodation for young people leaving care, and also targeting material savings/income.     DECISIONS: AGREED RECOMMENDATIONS   Reasons for the decision – as detailed in the report Other options considered – as detailed in the report Conflicts of interest / dispensations granted – none
