Purpose: The Children and Young People’s Equitable Services Programme (ESP) is a project designed to improve how our services for children and young people are delivered. It focuses on working together with local services to reduce unfair differences in health and wellbeing that different children and young people experience, including inequity across service access, experience and outcome. In 2024/25, we reviewed how different services collect and use data, and we brought together professionals in workshops to talk about what makes services fair and how to better support those who plan and deliver them. From this, we created a report sharing what we learned, and we are working with a sample of services more closely (called deep dives) to help us and develop a tools and resources to help make services more equal. This includes guidance on what data to collect, a place to share insights, and a network for professionals to learn from each other. In order to consolidate our equitable services programme (ESP) and ensure learnings from equity deeps dives are fully embedded into the day to day running of a service, a strong training and facilitation phase is required with dedicated and specialist resource for successful delivery. This resource will additionally provide wider capacity for general ESP programme support. This award is for the current health equity specialist working on the ESP to continue to lead on delivery of ESP training and development and provide ongoing ESP programme specialist support. Activities for this second phase will include: - Review, showcase of Phase 1 and agree plan for Phase 2 - Capacity Development – specialist training and facilitation - Mainstreaming relevant workstreams (Business as usual)) - Service user Capacity Development - Equity Programme Support - Responding to emerging themes from ongoing engagement activities
