Purpose: This report asks the Cabinet Member for Community Wealth Building to approve the award of two research grants to develop a deeper understanding of the food system in Lancashire. This will support local anchors to procure more food from Lancashire suppliers. Local procurement is a key element of the council’s commitment to community wealth building and increasing local food procurement was one of the key recommendations of Preston’s climate jury in May 2024.

Content: Resolved – That the Cabinet Member for Community Wealth Building allocated £9,420 from the £50,000 Community Wealth Building Development funding, approved by Budget Council 2024/25, to provide two research grants to develop understanding of the food system in Lancashire.
