Purpose: Newcastle City Council (NCC) has a requirement for a Schools Biometric Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS). This report requests approval to put a contract in place following a procurement exercise. NCC’s School Meal Service currently provides the school meals provision to circa 85 schools across the City. This includes the preparation and service of meals to pupils in Nursery, Primary, Middle and High school locations. NCC provides a full service provision including procurement, storage, preparation and service of meals. The primary objective of the procurement exercise is to have in place a solution that improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the catering service during trading times through improved transaction times.
