Purpose:
Content: (Non-key decision): (1) To support the expanding of the Council’s existing public spaces protection order (PSPO) areas regulating dog fouling and, following guidance from Sussex Police, the expanding of the alcohol consumption in public places PSPO to further areas of the seafront and areas outside the town centre, such as parks; (2) Where appropriate and when they become available through the enactment of the Crime and Policing Bill, and following consultation with Sussex Police, use Respect Orders to tackle the forms of persistent anti-social behaviour identified in the Act; (3) Provide a programme of campaigns, including signage and stickers at relevant sites, backed by social media messaging, to promote the following behavioural changes: (a) A campaign to encourage respect for any police officer or council officer dealing with anti-social behaviour. (b) A campaign to reduce violence against women and girls (VAWG). (c) A campaign to reduce dog fouling; and (4) That, in order to support the enforcement of public spaces protection orders, the Council should deploy Neighbourhood First officers to monitor pre-determined hotspot areas in the spring and summer.
