Purpose: On 8 February 2022, Executive authorised funding for a new five year £3.5m investment programme in play areas (including additional funding from Section 106 planning agreements). On 8 March 2022, Executive adopted the Play Area Strategy 2022 - 2027 and Play Area Action (Investment) Plan 2022 - 2027 and that the Parks and Cemeteries Operations Manager be authorised to take all necessary steps to deliver the improvement works necessary and replace the play areas identified. Chantry Park is a Play Area is identified as a site to be replaced in as part of this programme. A procurement exercise has been undertaken by officers from the Council’s Procurement team, using the ESPO Portal to identify a preferred supplier for play equipment and associated safety surfacing. One bid was received. A validation process was carried out by officers from the Council’s Parks team. The sole bid submitted by Kompan Ltd was found to demonstrate value for money and to meet required quality standards. The value of this contract is approximately £248,800.00 for the purchase and supply of equipment and to install wet pour surfacing. This sum is within the budget available for the project. The groundworks and installation of the equipment will be carried out by the Council’s Landscape Team.
