Content: 9.1 The Assistant Director for Access Mental Health & Safeguarding introduced the reports which summarised key issues and risks for the community mental health social work teams and set out the service responses to those. The AMHP report accompanied this report.     9.2 RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That Adult Health and Social Care Policy Committee:-       a.    Note the contents of the report on community social work teams, and specifically to be aware of progress and challenges facing the teams. Specifically: 1.    Performance 2.    Recruitment and retention 3.    Hospital discharges 4.    Demand 5.    Acuity b.    Note the content of the appendices, the Approved Mental Health Professional’s (AMHP report), and specifically to be aware of the following: 1.    The central AMHP service is support by two contingency groups of staff: 2.    ‘Bank staff’ who work within SCC as a casual AMHP work force who can do additional ad hoc shifts when necessary. This pool of staff will be maintained. 3.    Community AMHPs - who are based in other social work teams who will spend 20% of their time working on the AMHP rota from October 2025. 4.    There is a demand pressure across the mental health system, particularly in specialist AMHP teams. 5.    Succession planning is underway to ensure a workforce fit for purpose in the longer-term.   9.3 Reasons for Decision     9.3.1 The report is part of a regular update to committee on both mental health and AMHP services.     9.4 Alternatives Considered and Rejected     9.4.1 The report is an update on the mental health community social work teams. Sitting along-side it is an Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) report, which sets out specific issues relevant to the AMHP service. Both reports are for information. No decisions are asked for.
