Outcome:

Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Purpose:

Content: (Councillor Heaver spoke at the commencement of this item)    Councillor Dawkins introduced the report that sought Cabinet’s permission to consult on the Draft Net Zero Action Plan 2025 - 2030.    There were two options in the report   Option 1 To conduct a public consultation on the Draft Net Zero Action Plan. Option 2: Not to consult.     The Cabinet discussed the report and the following points were made:    There was a limit of what can be achieved due to funds, but ambition was still present and it was necessary to match ambitions with what is achievable.   The item will be heard at Overview Committee as a key consultee.   It was helpful to compare the previous plan that went out to consultation in 2020 with the new plan to see the improvements.    It was proposed, seconded and when put to a recorded vote    RESOLVED:    To carry out a 12-week consultation on the Draft Net Zero Action Plan 2025-2030.    Record of the voting:  For (7): Councillors Baldock, Dawkins, Castle, Charlotte Cornell, Chris Cornell, Hazelton and Ricketts  Against: None  Abstained: None    Reason for the decision:  The development of the draft Net Zero Action Plan has been informed by technical evidence and through partnership work driven by an officer working group. The current adopted Climate Change Action Plan is out of date and requires an urgent update, reflective of the ambitions of the current administration.

Date of Decision: June 16, 2025
