Purpose: This report seeks the approval for the procurement and subsequent award of contract for the replacement of kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and wet rooms, including associated electrical rewires and asbestos removal to the Council’s housing stock.

Content: Resolved by the Assistant Director – Housing   That the procurement and award of contract to UK Gas Services Limited for the replacement of kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and wet rooms, including associated electrical rewires and asbestos removal for a 2-year period only for the approximate sum of £2,000,000.00 (the exact value cannot be ascertained in full due the Measured Term Contract being carried out on a call off basis be approved.       This report seeks the approval for the procurement and subsequent award of contract for the replacement of kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and wet rooms, including associated electrical rewires and asbestos removal to the Council’s housing stock.   Without additional support from an external contractor Mansfield District Council would be unable to deliver an effective programme of kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and wet rooms works across its current housing stock. It is also not feasible to issue additional properties to our first programme contractor, due to the required output of turnover for the refurbishments.   The works associated with this contract will ensure that the Council is maintaining its obligations to provide ‘Decent Homes’ which are properties that:   • Meet the current statutory minimum for housing, • Are in a reasonable state of repair, • Have reasonably modern facilities and services.   No alternative options to be considered. The current housing repairs and asset service has no capacity to deliver these works in-house
