Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Purpose:

Content: The Director of Resources and Deputy Chief Executive submitted a report seeking Committee’s support of the decision by Community Services Committee to progress the pool refurbishment scheme to a RIBA stage 4 given a potential increase in overall project costs.   A survey of the pool tank had indicated that it may need to be replaced, at an additional cost of £1.2m. Community Committee had supported progression of the scheme, based on the knowledge that at this early stage the scheme costs could increase to a total of £4.2million. The report also stressed that there were many other factors that may affect total project cost and cost certainty would only be established following the design process which would include extensive surveys. Members were provided with details of the work and costs involved. The next step would be to await the results, following which a full and detailed financial assessment including the affordability of the scheme would be considered by the Budget Working Group for approval by this Committee.   RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   Considered the recommendation of Community Services Committee and approved that the Ribblesdale Pool refurbishment scheme should progress to RIBA stage 4.
