Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services
Outcome:
Is Key Decision?: No
Is Callable In?: Yes
Purpose:
Content: The Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services has considered a report outlining that the council had secured funding to develop a Quality Bus Transit (QBT) corridor, aiming to make travel quicker and easier for bus passengers in Stockport. This initiative was being developed in collaboration with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and was funded by the government's City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS). The project was part of a major investment spanning the entire 330 bus route connecting Stockport to Ashton via Hyde and Dukinfield, which would see enhancements to bus stops, junctions, crossings, and access points. It was noted that the ‘Scheme B – Carrington Road’ relating to the upgrade of the existing Pelican crossing on Carrington Road to a Puffin crossing; the relocation of and improvement to bus stops on Carrington Road; the provision of a cycle link between Crescent Road and Carrington Road; and the provision of a raised table at the junction of Werneth Street and Carrington Road had been considered and recommended for approval by the Central Stockport Area Committee at its meeting on 1 August 2024, however since that date it had been necessary to make some minor amendments to the proposed schedule of traffic regulation orders as a result of detailed design changes. The Cabinet Member Parks, Highways & Transport Services has then given approval to the proposed ‘Scheme B – Carrington Road’ scheme, and to the legal advertising of the associated package of traffic regulation orders as detailed in the revised schedule of orders attached at Appendix C to the report and, subject to the receipt of no objections within 21 days of the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the orders. None. None.
