Purpose: The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has provided the council with the final Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Greater Manchester. In accordance with article 15(4) of The Environment (Local Nature recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023, the purpose of this report is to give notice to the GMCA as to whether the council is content for the LNRS to be published. The Director of Place, in consultation with the Executive Member (Growth, Housing and Homelessness) was granted authority to respond to the GMCA on the provision of the final LNRS to the council by Executive Cabinet on 23 April 2025.

Content: That it be DETERMINED that: 1.       The Director of Place, in consultation with the Executive Member (Growth, Housing and Homelessness) consents to the publication of the Greater Manchester Local Nature Recovery Strategy by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, noting that final approval to publish the LNRS will subsequently be taken at a meeting of the GMCA on 22 August 2025. To ensure the council can respond to the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), within the timeframes set out in The Environment (Local Nature Recovery Strategies) (Procedure) Regulations 2023, as to whether it is content for the GMCA to publish the Greater Manchester Local Nature recovery Strategy. Executive Cabinet granted authority to the Director of Place, in consultation with the Executive Member (Growth, Housing and Homelessness), to respond to the GMCA on behalf of the council at its meeting on 23 April 2025.
