Purpose: In accordance with the National Planning Policy Framework and Planning Practice Guidance, an evalutaion of the current Northumberland Local Plan has been undertaken. The purpose of the work has been to determine whether the policies of the Plan remain effective, fit for purpose and consistent with national policy. The report captures the review process and findings, and recommends next steps.

Content: RESOLVED that:-   (a )     Cabinet approve the Northumberland Local Plan Evaluation Report and agree that work commences towards a new Local Plan, for the reasons summarised in the report; and   (b )     delegated authority be granted to the Executive Director of Place and Regeneration and the relevant portfolio holder, to:   •         give formal public notification of the intent to start Local Plan Making;   •         undertake early public participation and engagement; and •         formally start Local Plan Making in due course (subject to awaited regulations and guidance).
