Purpose: This report seeks approval to secure additional resources to support the successful delivery of the Adults Complex Brokerage function for 18 months to offer sufficient support to Adult Social Care while two members of the team are on maternity leave.

Content: This report seeks approval to secure additional resources to support the successful delivery of the Adults Complex Brokerage function for 18 months to offer sufficient support to Adult Social Care while two members of the team are on maternity leave. Amendments to staff structure of the Targeted and Specialist team within Whole Life Commissioning as follows:   a) Establish a fixed term post for 18 months 1.0 FTE Complex Broker (Grade G). Consideration has been given to not allocating additional resources to support the resource gap left by two members of the team being on maternity, but has been rejected as the Complex Brokerage is essential in supporting social workers to source placements and manage voids in existing supported living provision. The team is only made up of two complex brokers and half a senior complex placement officer. The period of this maternity leave will mean that the team will be without a supervisor and then a complex broker. Furthermore, the remaining complex broker only works part time, therefore, without this additional resource capacity to make placements would be significantly reduced.
