Purpose:

Content: The press and public were excluded from the meeting during discussion of the report under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that the report in question would be likely to involve disclosure of exempt information of the description specified in paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.   The Committee’s approval was sought for a reference from the Environment & Sustainability Committee on 9 July 2025, and Members were referred to the relevant report.   It was confirmed that several options had been considered in terms of vehicle type and fuels to optimise value for money and assist service delivery.  Members were pleased that a significantly lower number of vehicles was being requested than the actual number due for renewal.   Officers were aware of some current issues in service delivery which the operational staff were working hard to resolve.  The website updates on service disruption were appreciated, although keeping customers informed directly in response to queries raised, where feasible, was also beneficial.   Resolved that –   i)          a capital estimate in the sums reported for option 3 and 4 detailed in the report, for the purchase of new fleet vehicles to be funded from the Equipment Replacement Reserve set up for this purpose; and   ii)         to commence the procurement process to buy the replacement vehicles
