Purpose: The National Planning Policy Framework sets out that the purpose of the planning system is to contribute to sustainable development.   Gloucestershire County Council’s (GCC) Local Development Guide (LDG) provides information to Local Planning Authorities, developers, and stakeholders about the infrastructure it needs to mitigate the impacts of new developments with the aim of delivering sustainable development.   The LDG is used by Local Planning Authorities when creating development plans and supplementary planning documents and by GCC for consultation responses on planning applications.   The LDG is routinely updated and the existing LDG was adopted in 2021.  

Content: The National Planning Policy Framework sets out that the purpose of the planning system is to contribute to sustainable development.   Gloucestershire County Council’s (GCC) Local Development Guide (LDG) provides information to Local Planning Authorities, developers, and stakeholders about the infrastructure it needs to mitigate the impacts of new developments with the aim of delivering sustainable development.   The LDG is used by Local Planning Authorities when creating development plans and supplementary planning documents and by GCC for consultation responses on planning applications.   The LDG is routinely updated and the existing LDG was adopted in 2021.   Cllr Julian Tooke sought Cabinet approval for the adoption of Gloucestershire County Council’s Local Development Guide 2025.   Having considered all of the information, Cabinet noted the report and RESOLVED to:     a) Approve  the adoption of Gloucestershire County Council’s Local Development Guide 2025 set out in Appendix A: and   b) Delegate authority to the Executive Director for Economy, Environment, and Infrastructure in collaboration with the Cabinet Member for Business, Economic Development, Planning, and Infrastructure to prepare and approve topic specific Local Development Guide Supplementary Guidance Notes where more detailed guidance is required.
