Purpose: 1.     To consider representations made to the advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in relation to proposed waiting restrictions on the following roads in Calne, and to recommend an appropriate way forward.     ·       Stanier Road ·       Harris Road ·       Woodhill Avenue ·       Dakota Drive ·       Castle Fields ·       Station Road – Fire Station ·       Station Road – New Estate ·       Anchor Road & Bentley Grove ·       Horsebrook Park ·       Shelburne Road, Churchill Close & Brewers Lane ·       Thomas Court ·       Stockley Lane ·       Lake View Estate  

Content: 1.     To consider representations made to the advertisement of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) in relation to proposed waiting restrictions on the following roads in Calne, and to recommend an appropriate way forward.     Following consultation with officers I give notice that I intend to make the decision set out in the attached report. If you would like to make any representations to me on this issue, please do so by 31 July 2025. 8.    Implementation of these waiting restrictions will help to address road safety concerns raised to the Calne LHFIG on behalf of Calne Town Council and the local community, by improving visibility to junctions and access for residents, service vehicles and emergency services in these locations.   9.    The proposals are in accordance with priorities 2 and 3 in Wiltshire Council’s Business Plan 2022 – 2032.   10.The proposals have the support of the locally elected members, Calne Local Highway & Footway Improvement Group and Area Board. 7.    To:   (i)       Implement the proposals as advertised.   (ii)       Implement the proposals as advertised with amendments.   (iii)      Abandon the proposals. 2.    Consultation has been undertaken with:   ·       The elected Wiltshire Council Members through the statutory TRO consultation process ·       The elected Calne Town Council Members through the statutory TRO consultation process ·       Emergency services through the statutory TRO consultation process ·       Members of the public through the statutory TRO consultation process ·       Calne Local Highway and Footway Improvement Group   3.    The proposed changes were subject to formal consultation between 5th December 2024 and 13th January 2025. During the consultation period a total of thirty items of correspondence were received in response to the Council’s proposals.  This period was extended due to the Christmas and New Year period.   4.    Twenty one of the thirty comments received have been considered as objections.   5.    Nine expressed support or partial support for the Council’s proposals.   6.    The proposals have been developed following prioritisation by Calne Local Highways & Footway Improvement Group (LHFIG) and endorsement by Calne Area Board.
