Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Support Services and Local Government Reorganisation (Cllr Steve Waight)

Outcome:

Is Key Decision?: Yes

Is Callable In?: Yes

Purpose: West Sussex County Council is an Apprenticeship Levy paying organisation.  Work undertaken by the Human Resources & Organisational Development Task & Finish Group (TFG), chaired by Gavin Wright, Executive Director, Human Resources (HR), Organisational Development (OD) and Communications to reset its approach to employment and skills, identified opportunities to: Maximise the Apprenticeship Levy by encouraging the recruitment of more apprentices. Develop a longer-term approach to recruitment and retention through strategic workforce planning. The procurement of a training provider to deliver this apprenticeship, will aid the achievement of these objectives. There is an existing contract in situ, but increased demands mean the provisions of that contract will soon be exhausted.
