Purpose:

Content: The adoption of the Education Strategy was agreed by the previous Cabinet in March 2025. Committee members were asked to identify the priorities from the five key pillars.   It was agreed that developing a highly trained workforce was important as was ensuring high aspirations in schools, regardless of an area’s poverty and deprivation.   The committee unanimously agreed that it wanted a paper from officers regarding school place planning. It would not name schools but would set out all the possible options and the committee would decide on the best way forward.   RESOLVED:   i)                 THAT the Committee note the report.   ii)               THAT a paper will be brought to the October committee meeting detailing all school place planning options.
