Purpose:

Content: ·       To accept the terms of the updated offer and the grant funding sum of £20,000. ·       To use this revenue to procure an established and qualified consultant to provide a technical feasibility study of green energy generation opportunities at the Port of Workington.   ·       The decision is to accept the Grant Funding Offer and to procure a technical feasibility study of green energy generation opportunities at the Port of Workington. ·       The decision supports the Port of Workington Masterplan and it’s new Prospectus, reduce operational costs, help the drive to net zero, and to catalyse local economic investment, growth and development. The findings of this study would directly influence the masterplan and next steps in the Port’s net zero transition. ·       The decision is supported by the council’s Climate and Nature Strategy, the Carbon and Energy Management Plan, and the council’s own Net Zero ambitions.   ·       Do not accept funding and do not carry out the feasibility assessment at the Port. Not in accordance with Carbon & Energy Management Plan. Not in support of the Port’s green growth aspirations. This is not the recommended option. ·       Do not accept funding, instead self-fund the proposed feasibility assessment at the Port. This option would require full funding from council budget(s) and would not utilise available grants. This is not the recommended option.
