Purpose: Storrington Primary School is a school for children aged 4-11 with a published admission number of 60 and a total capacity of 420 pupils.   Following a structural survey to a double modular classroom at the school site, which reported that it was beyond economic repair approval was given in May 2024 to fund a new modular unit, for installation by the start of the autumn term in 2024, to ensure the school had sufficient accommodation.   It is proposed to replace the temporary double modular unit with a permanent traditional extension. Therefore, authority is sought for the allocation of funding to progress the design and construction of this project.

The Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Learning has approved:-   (1) The allocation of £2.581m from Basic Need monies to develop the design and fund delivery of the project at Storrington Primary School to replace the temporary hired double modular unit with two new classrooms and carry out associated works as set out in paragraph 2.1 of this report. (2)Following the design being finalised, the delegation of authority to the Assistant Director (Property and Assets) to commence a procurement process and award the contract to complete the project, including obtaining any statutory consents and in accordance with the scope and financial parameters set out in this report. None declared.
