Purpose: This report summarises the statutory, Traffic Management Order (TMO) consultation undertaken between 10th April 2025 and 2nd May 2025 on proposals to implement permanent Safe and Healthy Streets changes at Adeline Place, Bedford Square, and Great Russell Street, outlines the objections received on the scheme proposals during the consultation period, and makes a recommendation for the decision maker’s consideration. The scheme seeks to improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the area through public realm improvements and includes changes to existing traffic management orders on each of the 3 affected streets. Following a public consultation, a decision was made by the Director of Environment and Sustainability, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Camden, on 6th February 2024 to approve implementation of the changes proposed. This decision was subject to compliance with relevant statutory requirements, including conducting the TMO consultation for five schemes that took place in April/ May 2025. Three objections to the proposals were received during the TMO consultation period. These objections and Officers’ responses to them are discussed in this report.
