Purpose:

Content: The Director of Community Services submitted a report to inform committee of the Climate Change Working Groups findings with regard to Doughnut Economics and the Cornwall Development and Decision Wheel (CDDW) and whether the concept should be considered for use by RVBC to create a new decision-making framework.   The working group had considered Doughnut Economics and the CDDW at their meeting on 31 July 2025, following a motion to Committee on 31 October 2024 and the decision to refer the matter to the working group.   Committee agreed with the working group recommendation that the concept would not be suitable for the Council. It was suggested that Officers may consider how committee reports demonstrate the considerations that are already being made in the decision-making process and that this should be on a more targeted basis with a focus on reports impacting sustainability.   RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   Agreed with the Climate Change Working Group that they do not support the adoption of Doughnut Economics and the Cornwall Development and Decision Wheel (CDDW) for use by Ribble Valley Borough Council to create a new decision-making framework.
