Purpose: The purpose of this report is to provide information to the Portfolio Holder for Safer Communities, Housing and Wellbeing on the outcome of PSPO consultation and provide details of the recommended change so that they can make a decision to formally renew the PSPO.
Content: To be Resolved by the Portfolio Holder for Wellbeing, Health, and Safer Communities. i) That the duration of the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) be extended by 3 years. Local Authorities are responsible for implementing Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs), as outlined in the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. This legislation provides both the Police and Local Authorities with powers to address specific nuisances or anti-social behaviour (ASB) within a given area. Before a PSPO can be introduced, it must be demonstrated that the ASB has a negative impact on the local community and diminishes their quality of life. These powers are also intended to protect the rights of the law-abiding public to enjoy shared spaces safety and without disruption Not extend the duration of the PSPO and allow it to lapse.
