Purpose: Scrutiny committee wish to consider the amount of money which is held by Essex County Council from S106 and understand how much money is held for Brentwood projects.

Content: The scrutiny committee have asked to consider the amount of S106 funding currently held by Essex County Council. This report sets out the background and recommends sending the attached letter, Appendix A of the report, to ask Essex County Council for more information and ask them to attend a future meeting.   Emma Goodings confirmed that the relevant office at Essex County Council has confirmed she would be able to attend a future Committee meeting.    Cllr Wagland highlighted that Mountnessing Village Council are having issues receiving S106 money from Brentwood Borough Council, similar to the issue Brentwood Borough Council is having with Essex County Council.  Cllr Wagland requested that this Council look into the process and have a clear paper trail on this.    Cllr Naylor MOVED and Cllr Gorton SECONDED the recommendation in the report. A vote was taken by a show of hands and it was RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY:   That the Chair of the Scrutiny Committee write to Essex County Council (as set out in Appendix A of the report) to request further information about funding spent and held for Brentwood and request that they attend the next meeting of this committee to discuss the S106 funding they hold for Brentwood Borough.
