Purpose: To request authority to vary a contract in respect of the design and build of the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at Newman Catholic College with Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd.

Content: To request authority to vary a contract in respect of the design and build of the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at Newman Catholic College with Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd. That the Director Property and Assets:   i)               Approves the variation of the contract for the design and build of the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at Newman Catholic College with Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd by £375,447.11 to deal with unforeseen ground conditions, asbestos removal and additional school requirements. The Council entered into a contract for the design and build of ARP at Newman Catholic College with Morgan Sindall Construction and Infrastructure Ltd in November 2024.   Officers have concluded that the contract requires variation to deal with unforeseen ground conditions, asbestos removal and additional school requirements. An alternative option would be to not vary the contract and seek other contractors / suppliers to complete the works. This option was discounted as it would involve additional procurement activities which would have prevented other works from progressing and led to significant delays to the project. None.
