Decision Maker: Environment and Community Protection Committee
Outcome: Recommendations Approved
Is Key Decision?: No
Is Callable In?: No
Purpose:
Content: Members felt that in future reports it would be helpful to highlight the elements of the report which were statutory and those that were not. In response to queries raised by Members: Clarification was given that the household waste figures were lower than usual due to the hot, dry conditions over the summer, resulting in less garden waste than usual. Confirmation was given that dog waste could be put into normal waste bins and that consideration would be given into replacing dog waste bins with mixed waste bins at some point in the future. The contract with Island Roads would need to be amended. Officers would be happy to gather relevant information and bring to the Committee if that was desired. The recent tree policy had determined that, for every tree felled, two were planted. This was carried out by two members of staff, contractors, Green Gym volunteers and other voluntary groups. Fly tipping metrics were stipulated by DEFRA, and the figures included litter picks left at the roadside for collection. There had been success in Trading Standards with the number of service requests having reduced, along with the number of days taken to respond. RESOLVED: That the Committee note the performance report.
