Decision Maker: Environment and Community Protection Committee

Outcome: Recommendations Approved

Is Key Decision?: No

Is Callable In?: No

Purpose:

Content: An overview and summary of the report were given. The strategy was in alignment with other strategies. Some funding had already been secured for a dedicated co-ordinator and other funding bids were in process.   Environment Agency best practice was to co-design and develop resilience plans with the involvement of communities. Partnership working would be necessary, especially to address S.19 report outcomes.   In response to queries raised, it was confirmed that the Local Nature Recovery Strategy identified the location of the wetland areas to be created, not only on the shoreline.   The issue of surface water drainage was briefly discussed as it was reported that the government were allocating more funding to address the increasing problem.   It was suggested that the new Community Co-ordinator be invited to give a presentation to the Committee at an informal briefing.   RESOLVED:   That the Committee approves the development of Landslide and Coastal Change Adaptation Plans (LCCAPs) for high-risk areas identified in the report.
