Purpose: Reports introduces the proposal to adopt a Policy for the recharging of occupants of temporary accommodation who have maliciously, wilfully or neglectful damaged, damage to a temporary accommodation property, or it’s fixtures and fittings, for the costs incurred by the Council to repair damage or replace fixtures or fittings.
Content: Reports introduces the proposal to adopt a Policy for the recharging of occupants of temporary accommodation who have maliciously, wilfully or neglectful damaged, damage to a temporary accommodation property, or it’s fixtures and fittings, for the costs incurred by the Council to repair damage or replace fixtures or fittings. RESOLVED – That the adoption of the Temporary Accommodation Recharge Policy to enable the Council to recharge costs by households living in temporary accommodation that incur due to malicious or wilful damage or unreasonable misuse be approved. That the Head of Housing, Health and Environment, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities be delegated authority to make any minor changes to the Temporary Accommodation Recharge Policy as may become necessary be approved. REASON FOR DECISION: To enable the Council to recover costs would act as a deterrent and help retain a stock of well-maintained properties.
