Purpose:
Content: 10.1 The Committee considered a report of the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Services which sought approval from the Housing Policy Committee to commission a contract with an external insurance provider for the provision of Leasehold Block Insurance across the Council’s leasehold properties for a period of 5 years with a policy value of up to £3 million. 10.2 RESOLVED UNANIMOUSLY: That the Housing Policy Committee approves the commissioning of a new contract for Leasehold Block Insurance for approximately 3000 Council owned properties, for a contract period of 5 years and with an estimated policy value of up to £3 million. 10.3 Reasons for Decision 10.3.1 It is recommended that approval be granted to commission the appropriate contract for the appointment of an insurer to provide leasehold block insurance, with a view to awarding a new contact by March 2026. This will help enable the Council to continue to provide this key service. The commission of the contract will ensure the Council is operating in accordance with all applicable procurement law and achieving best value in its procurement of the services. 10.4 Alternatives Considered and Rejected 10.4.1 Option 1 - Do nothing Discounted: Under the terms of the lease, we, as the freeholder, are required to arrange and maintain leasehold block insurance for the building.
