Content: The report seeks the Chief Executive’s agreement to enter into a build contract (JCT Minor Works Building Contract with Contractors Design 2024) in relation to the Amounderness House Project. The contract will deliver an advanced package of enabling and preparatory works ahead of the main building works. The decision is required as a matter of urgency in order to enter into the minor build contract to maintain programme momentum and meet the timescales for delivery. Decision Taken – That the Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader of the Council, entered a JCT Minor Works Building Contract. Reasons for Decision – The entering into this specific build contract will enable preparatory & enabling works to be advanced to ensure the programme is maintained; and Alternative Options Considered and Rejected – This was rejected. If the scheme was not brought forward within these timescales, then, the cost would increase further as the contractor will not hold its prices, and the external Towns Fund grant could be affected. The building’s transformation will make a significant new contribution to the City Centre offer, support the small business sector and growing experience economy. It will make the City Centre more desirable as a place to visit, spend time, work and live.
