Content: The purpose of this report is to seek approval for the Council to renew the existing 41 lease agreements with Livv Housing Group for residential properties used for temporary accommodation and extend the term of the new lease agreements to seven years. The Executive Director (Regeneration and Economic Development) in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development hereby: (i) Endorses the Council’s continued use of social housing as temporary accommodation to house homeless applicants to fulfil its statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII (as amended). (ii) Approves the Council entering into new lease agreements with Livv Housing Group for 41 residential properties, as listed in Appendix 1 of the report, for use as temporary accommodation for homeless applicants on the terms set out within this report. (iii) Authorises the Head of Legal Services to prepare and complete the necessary legal documentation. Do not renew the lease agreements and rely on hotel accommodation to accommodate households where temporary accommodation demand outweighs the current supply. This will also have a negative financial impact on Council resources.
