Purpose:

Content: Councillor Juned – Leader of the Council   Consideration was given to a Statement of Licensing Policy for the period 7 January 2026 to 6 January 2031.   In receiving the report, it was noted that the Council was required to produce a Statement of Licensing Policy every five years in order to allow the issuing of licenses and enforcement of the provisions set out in the Licensing Act 2003. The current Policy would expire in January 2026.   The options available to The Cabinet were to adopt the Statement of Licensing Policy, or to request amendments to the Policy and then adopt.   In presenting the report, minor typographical amendments were noted, specifically, the correct spelling of ‘confectionery’ at paragraph 1.14 bullet point three, and – paragraph 10.14, referring to a ‘Licensing and Public Protection Committee’, being amended to read ‘Licensing and Regulatory Committee’.     Following which, it was   RECOMMENDED to Council:   That the Statement of Licensing Policy for the period of 2026 -2031 be received and adopted.   NOTE: This item is not subject to call-in to OSC as it is a recommendation to Council.
