Content: The decision affects all wards               The Cabinet considered the report of the Executive Director (Regeneration and Economic Development), which sought endorsement of the findings of the review of the Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan and agree that the Joint Waste Local Plan remained up to date for decision-making purposes for the remainder of the Plan period.   Councillor T Brennan, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, reported that the Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan formed part of Knowsley’s Development Plan alongside the Local Plan Core Strategy and the Replacement Unitary Development Plan.  In this respect, the Joint Waste Local Plan had been adopted by Knowsley Council and other Councils in the City Region in 2013 and the Plan allocated sites for waste uses and contained the key policies that the Council must consider when deciding planning applications which propose new waste developments in Knowsley.    Councillor Brennan highlighted that as the Plan had been more than 5 years old, the Council was required to review it to ensure that it had still been fit for purpose and that the policies contained within the plan did not require updating.  In this respect, the review of the Plan found that it had still been effective for decision making within Knowsley and Halton, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral Councils had already accepted the findings of the review.   RESOLVED – That:-   (i)             the findings of the Review of the Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan be noted; and   (ii)            As per the findings of the review, as set out in section 4.6 of this report, agree that the Merseyside and Halton Joint Waste Local Plan remains up to date for decision-making purposes for the remainder of the Plan period.
