Purpose: The purpose of the report is to seek approval to change the Data Protection Compliance Officer postholder from fixed term to permanent. There is a business need to make this role permanent due to the needs of the Information Governance team. The post is a core resource within the Information Governance team and is a fundamental resource in delivering the Information Governance service to Council employees. In addition, the post provides essential support to the Council’s Information Governance Manager in the statutory role of the Data Protection Officer and the Council’s Deputy Data Protection Officer. The cost of the post which is Grade M is £0.061m at maximum grade. Funding for the next 12 months has been secured through Children’s Social Care, specifically the Family Hubs Programme and the Children and Families grant.  Beyond this, funding may cease, and it is accepted that Legal Services will need to find future funding and adopt the risk in the meantime.
