This decision enable consistent information and guidance to be provided and clear governance in terms of what information can be provided The approval of an updated approach for requests to access the Public Register for licensed Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and the introduction of a monetary charge for providing copies of the digital register as permitted under the Housing Act 2004. This decision enable consistent information and guidance to be provided and clear governance in terms of what information can be provided In order to manage our resources effectively and provide open and transparent services, it is essential that we update and streamline the approach for requests to view the HMO registers we hold. The Council will provide information on how requesters can do this through the publication of an updated information leaflet and information on the  website.   The information provided will aid those requesters who have questions about HMOs within Cumberland Council and when the information can be requested under the Freedom of information Act 2000 (FOIA). The document will also set out when information will not be available and the reasons why we may choose to withhold information and what relevant exemption that maybe relevant to the request being made.    The alternative decision, which is rejected, is to provide the information as set out within the guidance but not charge for access to the digital register.  No charge will be raised for the in person register.
