Purpose: To agree Wyre Council's proposal for a single-tier of local government to be submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Content: Councillor Michael Vincent, Leader of the Council and Rebecca Huddleston, Chief Executive submitted a report to provide an overview of the work undertaken in response to the government’s formal invitation to submit proposals for local government reorganisation in Lancashire. Also, to present a three unitary model proposal to Cabinet, requesting their approval to submit the proposal to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government by the deadline of 28 November 2025.   Councillor Vincent introduced the report.   Decisions   Cabinet agreed:   That Cabinet approve the attached submission of a proposal for a three unitary model for Lancashire be submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government by the deadline of the 28 November 2025.   That Cabinet delegates finalising the full submission document to the Leader of the Council, in consultation with the Chief Executive, prior to submitting to the Government by 28 November 2025.
