Purpose:

Content: The Director of Economic Development and Planning submitted a report recommending Committee endorse and adopt the Revised Statement of Community Involvement (Fifth Revision).   The SCI is a statutory document which sets out how and when the Council will involve the community and other stakeholders in the exercise of its planning duties.    A draft revised SCI was presented to Committee on 17 April 2025, and it was agreed that public consultation should take place. No responses or feedback were received, and only minor amendments have since been made for clarity.   The report noted that the SCI is based on the current planning system. While the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023 proposes changes to this system, these cannot take effect until secondary legislation or regulations are introduced. In the meantime, the Council must continue to operate under existing statutory frameworks, which include maintaining an up-to-date SCI.   RESOLVED THAT COMMITTEE:   Endorse and adopt the final version of the Revised Statement of Community Involvement (Fifth Revision) in Appendix One of the report as a Local Development Document in accordance with Section 18 in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended).
