Purpose: The report seeks the Chief Executive’s agreement to extend the package of enabling works under the contract with the developer.

Content: Decision Taken – That the Chief Executive, following consultation with the Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources, approved the decision at 2.1 of the report.   Reasons for Decision – The reason for the decision is to ensure continuity of the enabling and building works, in order to maintain programme momentum and to avoid potential further costs.  This is a key transformational investment in a Council owned Grade ll building to provide a quality workspace facility and therefore if the works are not progressed, this key asset may not be developed, and the Towns Fund grant will not be effectively utilised             Alternative Options Considered and Rejected –Not to extend the minor works contract - this option has been rejected as it could lead to additional costs and delays to the project.
